Arusha → Tarangire (~3.5 hrs drive)
Depart at 6 AM. Arrive Tarangire for a full afternoon game drive. This is the elephant capital of Tanzania — herds of 100+ are common, and the Tarangire River corridor concentrates Lion, Leopard, and Buffalo in the dry season. Tick off 3 of the Big Five on Day 1. Overnight tented camp inside the park or Karatu

Day 2
Karatu → Ndutu (~3 hrs)
Morning drive through Ngorongoro highlands, then push southwest into the Ndutu region on the Serengeti–Ngorongoro border. This is where the Migration happens Jan–Mar: up to 8,000 wildebeest calves born daily, and every predator in the ecosystem converges on the chaos. Crucially, off-road driving is permitted at Ndutu — you can get right into the action. Overnight Ndutu.

Ndutu Fully Day 1

Ndutu → Ngorongoro Crater ↓
The grand finale and your Black Rhino tick — the rarest and hardest of the Big Five, and Ngorongoro has the highest density in Tanzania. Full descent to the 260 km² crater floor. Dense lion prides, hyena clans, hippo pools, and flamingo-pink Lake Magadi. Picnic lunch on the floor, ascend by 3 PM and overnight in Karatu.

Karatu → Arusha
drive back to Arusha by evening.
